The self help group  is based on the following objectives.

1. To provide education to needy children and the youth in Mathare North
   Community.
2.  Strengthen the school feeding program at the Centre to attract more disadvantaged
   children and youth.
3. To empower needy children & the youth to be self-reliant in the future and
   mobilize available resources to enhance their lifestyles.
4. Provide the children at the Centre with better recreational opportunities.
5. Initiate income-generating activities for the sustainability of the Centre.
6. Empower Bringers of Joy Education Centre officials and staff to implement
   various projects through provision of quality training.
7. To expand the Centre to include vocational technical community Centre with
   facilities that equip the youth with learning skills in tailoring, carpentry, masonry
   etc. This is in an endeavor to provide the youth with skills to earn a living.
